The Care Coordinator assesses the prospective client's need for assistance with input from individuals who have been instrumental in providing care to the client most recently. This assessment is achieved through discussion and visual observance of the client's ability to perform the following: The client, family or responsible party decides after assessment and discussion with the Care Coordinator if Amdal In-Home Care Services are to be retained. If so, the paperwork process is begun and the schedule is requested. A Plan of Care is written based upon the client's needs. If the schedule is requested through the night, sleep patterns are discussed. It is the client's sleep patterns that determine which of three types of shift rates are appropriate for client care through the night

Hourly Shift Rate: Client must be monitored or assisted at all times, which will require an awake caregiver.

Overnight Shift Rate: Client is monitored and assisted at routine intervals through the night, but both Personal Care Attendant and client are able to sleep between these intervals. This is a 12-hour flat-rate shift. This rate is in addition to hourly care during the daytime hours or may be chosen as a stand-alone shift. This shift cannot be pro-rated.

Live-In Companion Shift Rate: This is a 24 hour flat-rate shift. The client and Personal Care Attendant must each be able to sleep through the night. This may be interrupted once or twice with a brief need for assistance to the client for 30 minutes or less. This shift cannot be pro-rated.

A client or responsible party can always choose the option of hourly care for any shift. An Overnight or Live in Companion shift cannot be chosen if the care and assistance required of the client allows for no sleep.

Costs of Care

We offer hourly private duty services along with 24 hour per day live in help. Our hourly rates range from $18 - $22 per hour. Live-in caregivers are available for around $300 per day depending on the level of care required. Rates vary by location. Rates are higher if the care provided is for two individuals.

We are committed to minimizing out-of-pocket costs and providing only those services which are needed to maintain an independent lifestyle. When possible we investigate alternate payment sources for our services. If appropriate, we will bill long term care insurance.
