Adult Day Care Centers ("ADC") fill a niche in helping families who are caring for a frail senior. The ADC provides frail seniors with supervision, meals, activities programs and assistance to elder individuals. The ADC provides a benefit to the senior because of the availability of a new stimulating environment where companionship and activities are provided. An ADC provides benefits to the family by allowing family members to work or rest.

Health care services are not provided at ADCs. The exception is a Medical Adult Day Care Center, which is a rarity.

Licensure requirements and quality standards vary from State to State. While most ADC's are community sponsored, there are increasing numbers of privately owned ADC's

Costs vary widely but range from a nominal amount to up to $50 per day. Unfortunately, Adult Day Care Centers are not located in all communities.
